Join Rosemary in this week’s advice video as she answers your question, do Shetland ponies need a stable?
Our ponies live outside all year round. This is called keeping a pony at ‘grass’. So, how do the ponies manage without a stable?
- Shetlands prefer living outside with lots of open space and in a herd with friends to feel safe
- They have adapted to outdoor life in the wild with a big tail, mane and fluffy coat to keep them warm
- They find natural shelter in the field behind bushes and trees
- We do have an emergency stable if the Shetlands need to see a vet
