The ponies have had a three-month holiday over the winter months of December, January and February and we are getting them ready to meet the children this weekend. Find out what we do in this weeks video.
Pony checks over the winter
There’s lots to do during the winter months to keep the ponies healthy and happy. Each pony is checked by the vet to make sure that he is fit and can be ridden. Just like for us, the dentist has been to check all the ponies’ teeth. The farrier also comes every 7 weeks over the winter to trim the ponies’ hooves.
Getting the saddlery ready
Our saddler comes too, to make sure that the tack, that means saddles and bridles, are in good shape. He mends and stitches the straps and even makes us new saddles and girths which are the right sizes for the small ponies.
Training
The team and the ponies also practice and train as part of getting ready to open the Shetland Pony Club Ranch, there’s so much that has been done. So, now all we need are the children.

Which pony riding shall I book?
Starter Rides – are 45 minutes long and are specially designed as first riding experiences for children. Now from age 3 years old. £45 per child.
Own a Pony Experiences – are two hours long and are delightful early riding and learning experiences for children from age 4 years old. £65 per child.
Shetland Pony Parties – amazing pony parties for children aged 3 -10 years old. Use of a private facility with 6 ponies, creating magical memories for your child’s birthday. One and a half hours, £650 for 10 children. Extra riding children (up to 18), £25 each.
Easter Egg Hunts – fun Shetland Pony Treasure Hunts especially for Easter, with riding along a trail and chocolate eggs to find in the countryside. Ages 4 to 10 years old. One and a half hours – £65 per child
Summer pony camp days and weeks – enjoy the whole day with your favourite Shetland pony. Learn to ride him, look after him and enjoy being with him all day long. 9:30am – 4pm, Summer holidays only. Age 5+. £135 per day or £540 per week.
