This week, we pay tribute to Falkland; our very special retired Shetland pony who sadly died recently, aged 33. Falkland was the regimental mascot of the Parachute Regiment for 26 years and led many parades, before retiring to Shetland Pony Club.

Here we see him at the 30th Anniversary of the Falklands War, leading the military parade through Aldershot. Falkland was never ridden, but marched in front of the band wearing a special rug.

At Falkland’s final parade he was guest of honour, leading 140 horses at the Remembrance Calvalcade – a tribute to those lost in the First World War.

He enjoyed a very happy retirement at Shetland Pony Club where he spent his days lazing and grazing with his friend Cupcake. We hope you enjoy our tribute to this very special Shetland pony. We will miss you Falkland.
