This week, we pay tribute to Falkland; our very special retired Shetland pony who sadly died recently, aged 33. Falkland was the regimental mascot of the Parachute Regiment for 26 years and led many parades, before retiring to Shetland Pony Club.
Here we see him at the 30th Anniversary of the Falklands War, leading the military parade through Aldershot. Falkland was never ridden, but marched in front of the band wearing a special rug.
At Falkland’s final parade he was guest of honour, leading 140 horses at the Remembrance Calvalcade – a tribute to those lost in the First World War.
He enjoyed a very happy retirement at Shetland Pony Club where he spent his days lazing and grazing with his friend Cupcake. We hope you enjoy our tribute to this very special Shetland pony. We will miss you Falkland.
Shetland Pony Club has more pony mini-films for you to watch here.

Thank you for your kind comments, Gemma. we wanted to make a special tribute to Falkland and are glad you were moved by it.
Falkland s documentary was fantastic and so well done. Due to the fact that I have met him the story comes so much closer to me and my heart.
I do need to recommend it to be watched by all my other friends who love horses and even more Shetlands.
Well done Shetland Pony Club – I hope you can continue the hard work in also not forgetting the ponies as Falkland who have given so much of their loyalty to their owners througout the years.
Long live the Queen. We love Britain.
Dear Barbie,

As you are often far away from Britain we are so glad that we are able to bring a little piece of the English countryside closer to you.
