Amazing Pony Parties
Learn to ride at Shetland Pony Parties – wonderful learn to ride Shetland pony parties for children aged 3 – 10 years old. Use of a private facility, your children can bond with our adorable ponies and learn to ride them, creating magical memories for your child’s birthday. Two hours.

Learn Horse Riding at Shetland Pony Club
There are 2 learn to ride a pony options for your child to enjoy every weekend:
- Starter Rides are 3/4 hour long and specially designed first-riding experiences for children. For children from age 3 +. £55 per child.
- Own a Pony Experiences – are two hours long and are delightful early riding and learning experiences for children from age 4 years old. £85 per child.
Starter Rides
Starter Rides are 45 minutes long and specially designed first-riding experiences for children. Includes pony grooming and a ride on their own adorable Shetland pony. Followed by a certificate presentation. £55 per child. Each child will have their own pony and helper. Children MUST be 3 years old at the time of their ride.
Own a Pony Experiences
Own a Pony Experiences are two hours long and are delightful early riding and learning experiences for children from age 4. Includes lots of riding and pony care. Followed by a rosette presentation. £75 per child. Each child will have their own pony and helper.
Two-hour session – £85 per child

Your Perfect Pony Picnic Afternoon
Come and experience your perfect afternoon with a Shetland Pony and a Picnic with friends. Meet your adorable Shetland pony, learn about him and how to lead him. Pack up your cream tea and rug for your pony to carry in his pony panniers and enjoy a summer stroll along our pony paths with our knowledgeable guide. Experience nature first-hand, walking with your perfect pony partner. Round off your summer saunter at your perfect pony picnic pitch. Relax and enjoy a delightful cream tea with a view in a stylish picnic spot. Your pony can relax alongside your picnic patch.
A Shetland Pony Picnic is the perfect way for grown-ups and children age 5+ to enjoy the company of Shetland ponies and friends in the beautiful Surrey countryside.

250 Houses – Planning Application Update
A huge thank you to all who responded to our request for objections to stop 250 houses being built in the Shetland Pony Club Valley opposite the fields of The Ranch. The Stoke D’Abernon Residents Association have sent out an excellent update on the progress so far.
At the end of July 2025 there were an incredible 1062 objections to The Paddocks Outline Planning Application (with only 4 letters of support). This may be a record for this type of Planning Application and clearly shows overwhelming public opposition to this speculative, unsustainable and poorly conceived development.
Next Steps
The Elmbridge Borough Council Planning Officer (Peter Brooks) is now developing a report and recommendations on behalf of Elmbridge Planning Department. The final decision will be made by the full Elmbridge Planning Committee made up of about 18 councillors from across the borough.
What can you do?
1. At present the key thing we are asking residents to do is to lobby your local Councillors and those on the Planning Committee (the list of Councillors and their email addresses can be found here). They are your elected representatives.
2. Please also sign this petition that has been shared with us which is seeking to change and clarify the current vague and misleading definition of “Grey Belt”. Our Green Belt land is under threat largely as a result of this change by the Government.
