Wow – former member, turned Gold Medallist Returns to Shetland Club. Can you believe it!
Wow – can you believe it? We had a real European Gold Medallist visit our members at Shetland Pony Club last weekend. Team Gold Medallist for Eventing, Darcy Zander started learning to ride with us, 14 years ago.
That really is Small Ponies…Big Dreams come true!
Wonderful Members Morning
Can you believe it – we had a real European Gold Medallist visit our members at Shetland Pony Club last weekend. Darcy Zander came to see our members ride, and spoke to them about her amazing journey.
Small Beginnings
Darcy started riding on Gordon and Teddy Bear at Shetland Pony Club when she was 7-10 years old. Now 21, she won a European Gold Medal for Great Britain, in Poland this summer, riding her wonderful horse Alfie.
Lots of riding, caring and fun
We learned that to win medals you need to do lots of riding. Darcy rode 6 days a week, with lots of lessons and training, so that she could get really good at it.
She takes care of her own horses every day and said that you must always remember that riding is fun! It’s important to build a bond with your horse so that you can help each other, when you need it.
Marvellous Mum
To be a champion rider you have to put in many years of commitment and our parents heard from Darcy’s mum about how she helped her daughter with all the training and practicing.

Bad News and Good News
As we get to the end of the season – we have some bad news and good news to share…
Bad news for us, but good news for Libbie…
We are sad to let you know that Libbie Dawson, our wonderful Ranch and Team Manager will be leaving us at the end of the year to follow her dream of becoming a Paramedic. Libbie has been a team member at Shetland Pony Club for 7 years working her way up from Ranch Staff to be come a brilliant Ranch and Team Manager, caring for our young riders and ponies and organising our big team of staff every week. She also rode with us when she was little – famed for her pink wellies when out riding!
It’s great news for Libbie who has been accepted onto a Paramedics Training Course, and she can move on to follow her Big Dream with a wealth of experience and many friends made at Shetland Pony Club. We wish her every success in the future.
We will have a presentation at the Ranch on Saturday 30 November at 11am and Sunday 1 December at 12 noon for Libbie, when everyone will have a chance to thank her and wish her good luck in her new role.
Good News for 2025!
We are delighted to let you know that Holly Rothman, a wonderful Team Leader at Shetland Pony Club will be taking on the role of Ranch and Team Manager in 2025.
Holly rode Honeybee as a child at Shetland Pony Club and returned as a team member, working her way up to be a great Team Leader over the past 3 years. We are delighted that Holly will taking on this important role and wish her every success for the coming season.

- Maxi Pony Party – 7-18 riders – large stylish Ranch with lots of adorable ponies. Pony brushing, riding and party games, organised by our friendly team, creating magical memories for your child’s birthday. 3-10 years. Weekends: 2:30pm – 4:30pm £600 for 7- 8 riders, £30 per extra rider
- NEW – Mini Pony Party – up to 6 riders – stylish Safari Tent with an adorable Shetland pony for each child and a friendly team to help, creating magical memories for your child’s birthday. 3-10 years. Weekends: 2:30pm – 4:30pm £450 for up to 6 riders (max)
