Let’s join in on Creme Brulee the Shetland Pony’s Modelling Day and find out what he needs to do to get ready to look his best for the photographer?

Farriers visit before the Modelling Day

Creme Brulee needs his hooves to be in tip-top shape and really smart, so the farrier is visiting him to give his hooves a special trim up. Trimming hooves is a very skilled job and the farrier has to train for 4 years to learn his trade. Creme Brulee knows that he has to be patient and is very good with his pony pedicure!

Come and see Creme Brulee the Shetland Pony being brushed and washed and all ready for his Modelling Day. He loves being the centre of attention and has a great time at his photoshoot, with lots of gorgeous pictures taken. Well done Crème Brulee!

Own a Pony Experiences – 2 hours long and are delightful early riding and learning experiences for children from age 4 years old. Children enjoy both riding and pony care – £60 per child.
Halloween Pumpkin Rides – Come and enjoy our legendary themed pony treasure hunts for pony-mad witches and wizards. Enjoy 1½ hours of pony riding fun at The Ranch. From age 4 years old – £60 per child. Almost Full.

New minimum riding age of 4

Shetland Pony Club is proud to be one of the first riding schools in the country to be awarded the Association of British Riding Schools Certification for COVID-19 Safe Working Practices. Having risk-assessed our riding in the light of the government guidelines, we have changed the age for riding to a minimum of 4 years old, until further notice.

For children aged 2.5 – 4, we hope to be able to resume riding soon. Keep an eye on our weekly email, social media and the website here for more information.

Farriers in the field

The Shetland ponies are back to work and the farriers are in the field. The farriers are the people who look after the ponies’ feet. They are highly skilled. It takes 5 years to learn how to become a farrier.

At Shetland Pony Club the farriers come every seven weeks to trim the ponies’ hooves to keep them in good shape.

Do the ponies mind? Do they run towards or away from the farriers?

Easter pony fun is booking up quickly – don’t miss out!

Over Easter we have 3 weeks of pony fun to enjoy:

Starter Rides – are 45 minutes long and specially designed first riding experiences for children from age 2½ years old. £39 per child.

Pony Mornings – are 2 hours long perfect early riding experiences for children from age 4 years old. £49 per child.

Easter Egg Hunts – are 1½ hours long and are fun Shetland Pony Treasure Hunts riding along a trail with chocolate eggs to find in the countryside. Fun for children from age 4 years old. £49 per child.
