It’s the best holiday ever for the Shetland ponies at The Ranch. The ponies have finished riding with children for the season and are now enjoying themselves for the winter.
What do ponies do on holiday?
Great question! The ponies are able to rest until we open again on 7 March 2020. But what do they do all that time and how do they cope with the cold weather? Do they go abroad, or are they happiest at home?

Win a Starter Ride at Shetland Pony Club
Shetland Pony Club have teamed up with Beaverbrook Hotel to bring you the chance to win a Starter Ride with us in 2020. You can also relax and unwind in the charm and charisma of Beaverbrook, a luxury country house hotel near Leatherhead, Surrey, when you come and ride with us.
It’s Shetland pony playtime at the ranch and the warm weather is making the ponies full of energy and play.
The ponies are galloping about having fun playing and rolling together…and they seem keen to get back to work when the ranch opens in March. The warm weather means the ponies are enjoying playing together in the paddock.
The ponies all live together in the fields and keeping them in this natural way means the ponies can express themselves through play…rather like children. Some of the ponies love to roll.. watch the video to find out who likes rolling best.
