Being “Best Friends Forever” is something that many people strive for. Did you know that Shetland ponies make special lasting friendships too.
Best Friends Forever
Shetland ponies who are best friends will eat together, rest together and enjoy each other’s company. When they are apart they yearn to be together again and may call out (or whinny) to their best friend.
Shetland Pony “Besties”
At Shetland Pony Club, Crème Brulee and Honeybee have the greatest and longest lasting friendship. They are devoted to each other and will happily spend every day in each other’s company.
Another special friendship exists between Sundance and Nottingham. When one was poorly, the other stayed with him in the stable as his companion – what a kind friend.
Join us this weekend to meet the Shetland pony best friends and make your own pony friend too, on our Own a Pony Experiences and Starter Rides.
From Rosemary, Liz, Libbie, the Team, and all the ponies at Shetland Pony Club

It’s the perfect time for our Shetland Pony Photography Day. The sun is out, the wildflowers are in bloom and the ponies are nearly ready.
Beautiful Shetland Pony Photography Day
The ponies have been shampooed and the children are arriving for our Pony Share Members Photography Day in the gorgeous wildflower meadows at The Ranch.
Which ponies like the photos the most?
Snowdrop is looking really sparkly white for his photo shoot, Gordon is all glossy, and Honeybee is getting ready too, but Sundance is not so keen to pose amongst the white moon daisies.
Getting the perfect pony photo is not easy
The ponies love to graze and browse in the wildflower meadows and it takes time to capture the perfect Shetland pony photo.
Frame that pony!
Take a look at the fun photo frame in the buttercup meadow and find out which pony is the best at posing for his photo.
Let’s find out how to prepare a Shetland pony for a photo shoot in this weeks’ video from Shetland Pony Club.
When is the best time for a pony photo shoot?
When the weather improves, the Shetland ponies have their summer coats and the wildflower meadows are in bloom, it’s the perfect time for a Shetland pony photo shoot. Getting the perfect photo takes time and care, and the ponies need to look their best in the pictures.
How to prepare a Shetland pony for a photo shoot
The secret is to shampoo the ponies to make them look gorgeous. We have special pony friendly shampoo and warm water for the ponies to enjoy their beauty spa.
Honeybee has had his legs washed, Sundance has a beautiful shampooed tail and Crème Brulee has had his mane washed. The ponies that need the most preparation are the white ponies (known as grey because of their skin colour), Snowdrop and Tintin.
What is the secret to a perfectly prepared pony?
Getting a Shetland pony to look show shiny and his very best is not as easy as you might think. Find out what happens to Batman?
Stop yawning ponies! It’s time for riding. You need to wake up because there are just a few days to go before we open The Ranch again, how exciting!
Springtime relaxing
The ponies are enjoying the spring weather, and are lazing in the meadows at Shetland Pony Club. They are grazing, yawning and rolling. It’s been a lovely long relaxing break with plenty of grass and hay to eat and lots of friends to play with.
Stop yawning ponies! It’s time for riding
Dinky is yawning and Batman, Crème Brulee and Honeybee have been rolling for fun. But the Ranch will be opening soon and so the ponies need to get ready to meet the children for a summer of pony riding fun.
Welcome back
The team have all been trained in the new procedures and the ponies are practicing coming in again for breakfasts and grooming. We can’t wait for the children to come back for a busy summer of pony riding fun.
