Find out if Shetland ponies like Starlings

Find out if Shetland ponies like Starlings in this week’s episode of Shetland Pony Club TV.

Starlings used to be very common birds in the UK but since the 1970’s their numbers have declined.  We think it’s lovely to see a large group of these birds – known as a murmuration – at the ranch.

Shetland Pony Club is a Charter member of Children and Nature Network and we love to share a little of the natural world with families, when children come to ride our Shetland ponies at the ranch.

Where do they nest?

With so many Starlings at the ranch, there must be a bird’s nest somewhere?  Watch to see Rosemary as she finds a nest.  Are there Starling chicks in it or have they fledged and flown away from the nest?

Do the Shetland ponies like the Starlings?

The Starlings are extremely noisy all around the ponies.  What do they think of them – do they mind?
