From Rosemary, the Shetland Pony Club Team and all the Shetland ponies
It’s been a busy summer at the Ranch and we are looking for a new Shetland pony to join our team. Where better to look than the Shetland Isles?
Getting to the Shetland Isles
These famous islands are 120 miles north of Scotland and you have to take an overnight ferry or fly there from Aberdeen. The weather is often windy and wet on Shetland.
Which animals can we see?
Shetland ponies live all over the Shetland Isles, so will we see some suitable ponies when we arrive? Gosh, there’s lots of amazing wildlife to see: puffins; otters and something else too, but no Shetland ponies so far…
Lone Shetland pony
We finally see a lone Shetland pony on a hillside. Will he be the one for us? Find out if this gorgeous pony is a good choice for our children.
We’d love you to join us for pony fun this autumn. We are open at weekends and in the holidays until Sunday 28 November.
You can book online here now, or give us a call on 07734 950 309.

It’s time for introducing our new Shetland ponies to the herd. Now that they are settled, Mufasa and Balmoral can start to meet their new pony friends at Shetland Pony Club.
Introducing our new Shetland ponies
Mufasa and Balmoral have spent some time getting to know the ponies in the Shetland Pony Club herd over the fence. They have said hello and slept nearby, and Dinky is keen to meet them and play.
New best friends
First of all, Teddy Bear gets to meet the new ponies. Watch as he has a play with Balmoral. How do they say hello to each other?
Find out which other ponies meet Mufasa and Balmoral next? Do they get on straight away?
Horsing around
Balmoral is keen to make friends with all the ponies. Who does he have a race with, in the meadows at Shetland Pony Club?
As lockdown eases, join us as two Shetland ponies return for riding at The Ranch.
Two Shetland ponies return for riding
Crème Brulee and Honeybee have spent this lockdown at the farmhouse. They made lots of friends with bigger horses there.
Getting ready for riding
The Ranch will be opening soon and so the ponies need to get back to join the rest of the Shetlands and prepare to meet the children for a summer of pony riding fun.
A woodland journey
The Shetland ponies take a long walk through the woods to reach the Ranch – join them on their journey in this week’s video.
What happens when they get back to Shetland Pony Club?
Come and meet our new Shetland pony, Fudge, as he arrives at Shetland Pony Club. Watch Fudge arrive and find out how he spends his first few days.
Watch Fudge making new friends
The ponies at Shetland Pony Club are very keen to make friends with our new Shetland pony, Fudge; but he needs to have time to settle in and relax in his new home. Watch as he has a drink and a roll and then meets some of the ponies, Batman, Dinky and Teddy Bear. Which ponies do you think are going to be his friends?
