Shetland Pony Club Pony Camps provide fun-packed pony learning experiences for children aged 4+ with different themes each day. You can book individual days or weeks.

• There’s so much to enjoy in a camp week. Children experience all of these things:
• Horse whispering, learn polo, ranchers skills, horse agility, bareback riding, trotting and jumping, vets skills, ponies in nature, camp building, butterfly hunting, grooming, pony weighing, mounted games, riding  – different trails for every ride, one to one helper when riding, paddock care, tack cleaning, caring for a poorly pony, mixing ponies feeds, grooming, putting on the saddle and bridle, seed collecting, butterfly hunting, building bug hotels, pony quiz’s, horsey worksheets, pony dress up, western riding, pony team games, fun pony photos, pony shampooing.
• There are different themes each day to ensure children never get bored.
• Parents drop their children and experience the fun of the morning or day through photos and a prize-giving on collection.

Camp FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

• My child is a beginner rider – is a Shetland Pony Day Camp right for them? Yes – we have trained Shetland ponies and one to one helpers for your child whilst riding.
• My child is 3, can they come to a pony day camp? No – a pony day camp from 9.30am – 1pm and it is too long for children who are less than 4. Children need to be able to eat their own snack and follow instructions to come to pony day camp.
• Can parents stay at camp? Parents don’t stay at camp, but we send you photos so you can enjoy the experience with your child for years to come.
• My child is 11 – can they come? Our upper age limit is one of size, as our biggest Shetland ponies can be ridden by people of any age, as long as you are less than five feet (153 cm) and seven stone (45kg).
• What happens if the weather is bad? – we work around hot, cold, wet and windy weather and adapt our programme around it. Children need to bring clothes suitable for all weathers. If it’s unsafe to ride because of the weather we will reschedule with you, or give you a full refund.

• What Safety Procedures do you have in place? We hold public liability insurance and are hold a 5 Star Animal Welfare Licence from Elmbridge Borough Council. We are approved by the Association of British Riding Schools and operate to their standards. Our senior staff are also DBS checked and are trained in first aid and child safeguarding. • What equipment do I need for pony riding? We supply hard hats, specially selected for size and comfort for small children. Riding boots or stout shoes are recommended. Wellington boots or trainers are fine. A waterproof jacket and leggings are a good idea.
