Nottingham was a really special pony at Shetland Pony Club. He joined us at The Ranch in our opening season back in 2008/9 and immediately became firm friends with Sundance. They spent the next 17 years together always grazing at each other side and were the firmest of friends and Sundance was by his side until the end.
Nottingham‘s full name was the Sheriff of Nottingham and Rosemary first discovered him back in 2008 in Redhill and was very taken with his very, unusual colour – blue roan and white and his kind and unflappable nature.
Nottingham was a kind and gentle pony, he was loyal, very steady and reliable and always eager to come to work.He joined in all aspects of Ranch life from Starter rides to summer camps and was a member‘s and staff favourite.
He was a wonderful example of a strong miniature Shetland Pony with his interesting colour multicoloured mane, kind eyes and his very gentle nature. He excelled with children with special needs being endlessly patient.
Nottingham’s photo in the poppy field was on the front of the Surrey Hills Magazine and he was also featured in Horse and Hound with our member and now staff member Jessica.
We feel so lucky to have been blessed with such a marvellous team player all these years and to have shared so many wonderful adventures with him. We are grateful that he taught so many children to ride and will be part of so many childhood memories.
