Teddy Bear is a very special pony. He is the classic ‘Thelwell’ Shetland, with a full mane, long tail and fluffy ears rounded behind. He has brown eyes and a black coat. Teddy Bear is one of our biggest Shetland ponies and he has been at Shetland Pony Club since 2013. He has an engaging personality and temperament and is fun and inquisitive.

He is 104 cm or 41 inches high, Shetland ponies are measured in inches, not hands, but if people ask you, he is 10 hands 1 inch! They are measured from the ground to the wither (shoulder) using a measuring stick. Ted is a strong pony and can be ridden by children up to about 12 years old, depending on their height and weight. His breeding is called a ‘Standard Shetland’ which is very close to the type originally found on the Shetland Isles. He is a pedigree Shetland which means that his parents and grandparents were all well-known Shetland ponies.
