What are the Shetland Pony Survival issues in the prolonged snowy weather?
It’s been minus 10 degrees for several days. The winter wind the “Beast from the East” has an icy grip on the ranch. This means the water tanks are frozen and the Shetland ponies need help to survive.
Rosemary to the rescue!
Even though there is snow on the ground, our ponies are now eating hay, which is much drier than the grass hidden beneath the snow. So, we must give every pony water to make sure that he does not get dehydrated. It’s best to give the ponies small amounts of water, frequently and to make sure that it is slightly warm, to stop them catching a chill.

Over Easter we have 3 weeks of pony fun to enjoy:
Starter Rides – are 45 minutes long and specially designed first riding experiences for children from age 2½ years old. £39 per child.
Pony Mornings – are 2 hours long perfect early riding experiences for children from age 4 years old. £49 per child.
Easter Egg Hunts – are 1½ hours long and are fun Shetland Pony Treasure Hunts riding along a trail with chocolate eggs to find in the countryside. Fun for children from age 4 years old. £49 per child.
